What Happened When We Started Connecting Music and Publishing?

Independent musicians are usually introduced through records, concerts, or streaming. We wondered whether zine-making could become another way of introducing them.

That simple question led us to create interview zines with musicians, a guide zine to Korean indie music, guidebooks for concert audiences, and publications about independent music scenes across Asia.

Along the way, we found ourselves introducing artists, organising talks and live shows, collaborating across countries, and running cultural exchange projects between independent music scenes.

We'd like to share a few of these stories before opening the conversation. How do you introduce the independent culture you care about? What has become your own way of helping people discover artists, communities, or ideas? We'd love to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and leave the table with new ideas.

This roundtable is open to anyone interested in independent music and culture, whether you work in music, publishing, design, art, education, community projects or simply enjoy discovering independent scenes. You don’t need to work in music or publishing to join.

If you’d like, bring something that introduced you to a scene, artist, or community. It could be a zine, flyer, poster, booklet, programme, ticket, map, or another printed object that sparked your curiosity.

We’d love to use it as a starting point for conversation.
