Taste, or Budget?

Most magazine makers think their aesthetic is a choice. Half of it is a supply chain. Offset isn't always a style, sometimes it's what you reach for when riso costs double and you can't finance a thousand copies. We'll put a few magazines on the table and guess which decisions were real decisions and which were the only thing you could afford. Then the question a room full of survivors rarely gets asked: what actually kills a magazine? Money, a printer, a contributor, the day job? And what would have saved it?

Open to publishers, editors, designers, and anyone who has made or tried to make a print title. No specialist knowledge needed. Bring one magazine you made or love, ideally one where the format or printing was decided by budget rather than taste.
