Sticker Making and Urban Activism

This workshop explores sticker-making as a form of urban activism and everyday artistic intervention. Through conversation, storytelling, and collective design, participants will reflect on what it means to communicate with a city through small, direct, and often temporary gestures placed in public space.

The workshop begins with a short presentation and discussion on urban communication, public visibility, and artivism. Zeynep Nur Ayanoğlu will share how she personally started making stickers during the public debates around Turkiye’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. At the time, she joined the feminist campaign “Istanbul Convention Saves Lives” by producing and distributing stickers in public spaces. Over time, this practice continued through different social and political moments, becoming a way of responding quickly, collectively, and visually to events happening around us.

Following a brief introduction round with participants, we will collectively brainstorm slogans, symbols, and visual languages connected to the city, resistance, solidarity, or everyday life. Participants will then design their own stickers individually or collaboratively using simple materials and accessible techniques.
