4 in 60 Minutes

Four talks back to back in 60 minutes: A little bit like speed dating for people who want to find something interesting to read, we present four short interviews with four great magazines.
The Paper
A brilliantly chaotic, overwhelmingly exuberant magazine from Wales, The Paper presents readers with something of a puzzle: It’s funny and silly, but it’s also impassioned and serious; a rollercoaster ride of emotions that all come from the heart and serve to communicate a sense of contemporary Wales. In this conversation, two of the magazine’s editors, Oliver Gabe and Owen Davies offer an idea of what it’s all about.

Troublemakers
A lovely, gentle magazine, Troublemakers is the Tokyo-based title that embraces life’s misfits. In this conversation, editor Yuto Miyamoto and art director Manami Inoue explain why they're so interested in the lives of people who don’t conform to simple norms, and share their thoughts on the best way of conveying those differences with sincerity and sympathy.

GRASS Magazine
Launched in 2020 to represent working-class arts with authenticity and a bit of humour, Grass has grown over the last five years to become bigger, louder, and more accomplished. In this conversation, editor Tommy Sissons will speak about the challenges that come with publishing a working-class arts magazine, the changes that Grass has navigated, and the opportunities he sees ahead.

Icarus Complex Magazine
Covering the climate crisis can be unforgiving work, but Icarus Complex refuses to lose hope, telling stories that focus on finding solutions rather than becoming overwhelmed by the enormity of the task at hand. In this conversation social media manager Dorka Szender speaks about their approach to the challenge, and how she uses digital tools to help spread the print magazine’s message.
