Travel Grant 2026

Open Call for Applications

Thanks to the generous support by our sponsors and the City of Hamburg, we are able to offer six International Travel Grants for independent publishers, including the opportunity to exhibit and speak at Indiecon 2026 (Sep 4–6), one of Germany’s largest Independent Publishing Festivals. Deadline is February 28th.

The Grants encompass:

Three Worldwide Travel Grants for all countries worldwide

Three European Travel Grants for all EU countries

Applications are open to international independent publishers of all trades, including but not limited to publishing houses and collectives, magazine makers, zinesters, book artists as well as website, newsletter or podcast creators.

We especially encourage projects and publications that advocate for political, cultural and societal change or promote deeper insights into topics that might otherwise be overlooked and enterprises that explore alternative economic models for sustaining their publishing practice (e.g. collectives, cooperatives or community-driven initiatives).

Grantees will receive the following:

travel stipend

accommodation for max 2 applicants per initiative (double-room) during the fair (Sep 3-6 or Sep 4-7 2026)
reimbursement of travel costs (air fare / local transport)
logistical support by the Indiecon team

free fair attendance

exhibition table (160x80cm) at Indiecon
free access to all Indiecon programme
free breakfast club + food & drinks during the fair
All grantees are invited to hold a talk at Indiecon Conference and host a workshop or roundtable session

Contribution to the Indiecon Community program

This is not a requirement for the application! If you’d like to participate, please choose one of the following.

1. Workshop or skill-sharing session We’re interested in sessions aimed at fellow publishers as well as a general (professional) audieces. Feel free to share a special skill, workflow, or concept relevant to publishing in print or online. Recommended duration is 1–2 hours (3 hours max).

You’ll have access to our workshop space, which is equipped with a risograph, a zine-making station, and digital tools.
