Many cultures and ethnicities have long had a historical trace and preservation in the form of archives. Libraries have been filled with Western authors and art with minimal dedication or curation to Black history and books. Yet the idea of Black archives and libraries are still spaces that are not only grossly underfunded but even viewed as obsolete. Together with Arca - Afrikanisches Bildungszentrum - Fasiathek and Die Schwarze Kinderbibliothek, we probe into the importance of creating Black archives and libraries, how they contribute to the health of a society, the challenges and successes that arise from creating “A Space of One’s Own”.
